“It is important for me to center your story, symptoms and your request for help in the context of your life story while simultaneously integrate scientific insights to the treatment. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, schema therapy, and interventions based on mindfulness and ACT. The past years, I have gained experience in treating women, men, couples, and young families in the life stage of (unfulfilled) desire for a child to parenthood. My professional and personal experience is that this stage of life is both beautiful and vulnerable. When things go differently than expected, it can have a significant impact on your life and relationships. I like to explore factors that we can influence, so that you can regain your strength.”
“In my treatment, the person is central. I do not focus primarily on the complaint itself, but together with you I investigate the often deeply rooted beliefs and patterns that cause complaints to arise and keep recurring. The emphasis in our conversations is on getting to know yourself better. Stubborn patterns often have to do with our (early) development as a person. These are expressed in current life, as an adult in contact with yourself and with others. I find it a great challenge to arrive at new self-insights together and help clients to break through problematic patterns for them.”
“I start from the strength of the individual and I think it is nice to see when people can experience their own resilience again and can move on in life. In the treatment I make as much use as possible of proven effective treatment techniques from a cognitive behavioral therapeutic framework, applied to your personal situation. I work in a complaint-oriented way, in which we tackle problematic emotions, thoughts or behaviour. Together we set goals that we will work on. Changing behavior or facing fears can sometimes be difficult, but it is certainly possible!”
“Together with the client, we look at where the complaints come from, how the complaints are maintained and from there we see possibilities for change. I think this is a beautiful process. I work in a goal-oriented and results-oriented way and I think it is important that the client feels understood and heard. I like mutual openness and humor and in my opinion they often help in the treatment.”
“In the General Basic Mental Health Care I like to work with people to reduce their complaints. I regularly work with cognitive behavioral therapy, but also apply EMDR or mindfulness exercises. I think it is important to work purposefully and to let people regain their strength. I think good coordination is important in this.”

“Over the years, my interest has increasingly shifted to primary psychological care, which is why I founded Praktijk voor Psychologie in 2008. I find it a great challenge to investigate the underlying causes of the complaints together with the client and to search together for possibilities to reduce the complaints. The goal here is that the client has sufficient tools after the sessions to be able to continue independently.”
